Course description
This course is dedicated to the study of energy sources, materials used in energy generation, and the sustainability of energy production. In particular, advanced materials for energy storage, conversion, and recycling will be introduced in great detail.
In the first part, a short review of the conventional energy sources (fossil fuels, nuclear, solar, wind, hydro), as well as reminders of energy units, energy generation, storage, and transfer, will be given.
Then, in the second part, an outline of advanced materials that will realize a green energy society will be introduced. For example, materials for fuel cells, for batteries and capacitors, oxygen and hydrogen storage materials.
Purpose of class
Students are expected to obtain skills, knowledge, and understandings of basics of sustainability, renewable energy, energy recycling, energy saving and a variety of advanced materials for energy.

Evaluation method and criteria
Periodical tests (4 questionnaires) to be completed at home are compulsory.
Questionnaire #1 is related to the topics of classes 1-5.
Questionnaire #2 is related to the topics of classes 7-9 .
Questionnaire #3 is related to the topics of classes 10&11.
Questionnaire #4 is related to the topics of classes 12&13.
Each questionnaire counts as 10% of the student's grade (In total, 40% of the student`s grade).
Report #1 (15% of the grade) will be requested to cover one of the subjects of the classes 1-5, and the same subject will be delivered in the classroom as presentation #1 (15% of the grade) during class #6
Report #2 (15% of the grade) will be requested to cover one of the subjects of the classes 7-13, and the same subject will be delivered in the classroom as presentation #2 (15% of the grade) during class #14
Those who get at least 60% of the full score will pass this course.
There is no final exam planned in this course.
