Course description
本授業では、経済システム、政治システム等の社会理論を講義し、資本主義・民主主義の基に運営される現在社会のメカニズムを明らかにするとともに、日本社会の現在と未来を考察する。
In this class, we will lecture on social theories such as economic and political systems, and clarify the mechanisms of the current society operated on the basis of capitalism and democracy, as well as examine the present and future of Japanese society.
Purpose of class
本授業の前半では、パーソンズ、ウェーバー、マルクス、ハーバーマスなどの代表的な社会学理論を講義し、社会を読み解く基礎的なフレームを提供する。後半は、グループワークの形式で、デモグラフィックデータから現代の日本社会の課題を分析するとともに、今後の社会がどう変容してゆくか未来洞察を行う。
In the first half of this class, representative sociological theories such as Parsons, Weber, Marx, and Habermas will be lectured to provide a basic frame for reading society. The second half of the course will be in the form of group work to analyze issues in contemporary Japanese society based on demographic data, as well as to provide future insights into how society will transform in the future.

Evaluation method and criteria
#8までは小テスト、#9と#12は個人のレポート、#10/#13はグループのレポートを、#11/#14はプレゼンテーションを課す。平均点で評価する。
100 点換算の60 点以上で単位取得とする。60点とは、5つの達成目全てに渡って基本的な概念を修得しているレベルとする。
Quizzes up to #8, individual reports for #9 and #12, group reports for #10/#13, and presentations for #11/#14. Students will be evaluated on an average score.
A score of 60 or higher on a 100-point scale is considered to be a level of mastery of basic concepts across all five achievement objectives.

Applicable 本講義は社会理論を解説するものであるが、理論の背景となる現実を都度提示することが極めて重要となる。そのため、企業間の取引や政府内での意思決定など、教員の実務経験を伝えることで、学生の理解を深めることに努めている。
Although this course is designed to explain social theory, it is extremely important to present the reality behind the theory each time. Therefore, we strive to deepen students' understanding by conveying the faculty members' practical experiences in business transactions and decision making within the government.
