Purpose of class
The project will survey architecture, streetscapes, and cities in Japan from various perspectives, and through photographic documentation and surveying, drawings will be made to clearly show their characteristics through an architectural approach, which will be compiled into a report.
Course description
The series of domestic projects are PBL classes conducted in the form of intensive lectures during the summer or spring vacation, and are intended to develop various architectural skills and conceptual abilities in a step-by-step manner by sequentially tackling a variety of issues.Domestic Project 2 follows Domestic Project 1, in which students examine prominent buildings, cityscapes, and cities in Japan from a variety of perspectives, understand their characteristics, and compile their findings into a report.In addition, in the series of processes leading up to the preparation of the report, students will learn how to survey an area by taking photographs and conducting simple on-site measurements.
Goals and objectives
  1. Ability to explain the perspectives from which buildings, streetscapes, and cities are viewed.
  2. Ability to use photographic equipment and take appropriate photographs.
  3. Able to properly use various tools required for actual measurements.
  4. Ability to draw measured drawings.
  5. Ability to make appropriate presentations using photographs and actual measurements.
