Purpose of class
The purpose of this class is to give students a comprehensive understanding of theoretical intentions of architecture in the last century to further their knowledge of the recent history of the profession and to broaden their grasp of those characteristics beyond the stereotypical interpretation.
Course content
This course provides an overview, the other aspect from the general interpretation so far, to the modern movement in architecture in the 20th century from the theoretical viewpoints such as “Design”, “Construction”, “Building” and so on. This view to the 20th century architecture shows hidden characters, invisible possibilities and further ongoing actualities of the modern architecture. Therefore broaden students’ perspective to the Modernity on the one hand, cultivate open eyes to the future development of architecture.

  1. To learn the essence of the Modern Movement in Architecture
  2. To realize the relationship among architectural idea, practice and the society
  3. To develop research skills, by deepen historical and ongoing process, for the future architecture
