Purpose of class
To obtain knowledge about HCI, skills for discussion, and higher perspective.
Course content
Students survey novel technologies, innovative concepts, and impactful researches regarding human computer interaction (HCI). In the class, we have discussion based on the survey to acquire a higher perspective in the HCI field. All students in this class are required to ask questions about the presented research. A key feature of this course is its emphasis on questioning and discussion over simply presenting. Through these investigations and discussions, the goal is to acquire a comprehensive perspective within the field of HCI.
The main language in this course is Japanese but English is acceptable (reports and presentations may be conducted in English, but discussions with students must be conducted in Japanese or simple English.).

  1. Students can read technical papers and clearly explain it.
  2. Students can survey top level research in HCI field and explain it.
  3. Students can discuss the background and impact of the research.
  4. Students can logically describe the report based on the discussion.

Evaluation method and criteria
Evaluation is given based on presentation, discussion, and report.
Presentation and discussion are 80% and report is 20%.
Students can get score 60 if they have basic knowledge and skills for presentation, discussion, and report writing, and practice them in the class.
