Building Materials and Operations /Exercise 1

HAMASAKI Hitoshi
Purpose of class
Learn the latest findings in the field of building materials and construction, and conduct research activities that utilize them.
Course content
This field of research deeply involves building materials and construction methods in architectural production. Regarding building materials research, it investigates the fundamental properties and applicability of materials such as wood, concrete, steel, polymer materials, and recycled materials. Regarding construction methods research, it investigates construction management (primarily schedule management, cost management, quality management, etc.) and construction project management (primarily PM, CM, etc.).
Goals and objectives
  1. Conduct research based on existing literature regarding structural or finishing materials for buildings, and formulate research and experimental study plans.
  2. Study to develop the ability to create and propose useful materials for rationalizing and systematizing construction management, or for cost reduction.
  3. Acquire the ability to compile findings obtained through research and experimental studies into reports or papers and present them.

Evaluation method and criteria
Evaluation will be based on the student's problem awareness, problem-solving ability, report/paper writing, and presentation content/outcomes, as demonstrated through activities such as literature/material collection, literature review, hearing investigations, participation in academic conference presentations and discussions, attendance at symposiums/lectures/workshops, field visits/research institute tours, and seminar retreats. Evaluation criteria are as follows: Reading comprehension and literature review skills (30%), research and investigation abilities (40%), and paper writing and presentation skills (30%). A passing grade requires an overall score of 60% or higher.
