1 Functional Material Engineering/Exercise 1
The objective of this course is to systematically acquire an understanding of the relationship between microstructural control
and material properties based on metallurgical microstructure. In addition, students will develop the ability to apply the
acquired knowledge to practical material design and engineering applications by considering material processing processes
and service environments.
Based on the histology of metallic materials, we will examine how it can be reflected in material processing and other applications,
and in light of these considerations, what kinds of applications will be possible.
- To explain the concepts of solidification and crystallization of metallic materials.
- To be able to explain heat treatment of metallic materials and the relationship between the state diagram and microstructure.
- To explain the microstructure and mechanical, physical, and chemical properties of alloys.
