Purpose of class
Deepening knowledge of design and designers while learning about design management enables students to independently explore what design management is necessary for their own needs. Simultaneously, we focus on creating clear materials to cultivate designers' visualization and presentation skills.
Course description
The importance of design management is being emphasized, and leading companies like GAFA are increasingly incorporating design into their management levels. However, the significance of design management is difficult to internalize as a personal concern without an understanding of design and the role of designers.
This course begins by clarifying what design and the role of a designer truly entail. Through group discussions on design management, participants will deepen their knowledge. Lectures will feature insights from active designers and directors within companies, focusing primarily on real-world case studies.
Goals and objectives
  1. By deepening your knowledge of design, designers, and design management, one can organize one's own approach to design and communicate smoothly about design-related matters.
  2. Be able to visualize managing the design process myself for small-scale design projects.
  3. By creating accurate and easy-to-understand materials for the target audience, one can effectively communicate one's ideas to others.

Evaluation method and criteria
Students will be graded based on 50% midterm assignments and 50% final assignments. Those achieving a total score of 60 points or higher will receive a passing grade.
Students failing to submit interim reports will be deducted a maximum of 2 points per report. Outstanding reports may receive a maximum bonus of 2 points.

Each assignment will be evaluated based on the degree to which the learning objectives are achieved.
The 60-point benchmark requires reports grounded in course content rather than general theories. The 70-point benchmark requires the inclusion of the student's own thinking. The 80-point and 90-point benchmarks require unique ideas and reports that are clear, well-presented, and aesthetically pleasing.
