The course aims to develop the ability to gain an overview of society and determine one’s own way of life.
When contemplating the ultimate question of life, the answer inevitably becomes: “One’s life is determined by oneself.” There
is no single correct way to live.
However, as a biological species, human beings both grow and age simultaneously. In other words, while how one chooses to
live is entirely up to the individual, failing to act at the right time or plan appropriately can make certain aspirations
unattainable.
From this perspective, rather than approaching life in a purely spontaneous manner, having a certain degree of planning increases
the likelihood of living the life one envisions.
This course provides an overview of social conditions while guiding students in defining the kind of life they wish to lead.
By doing so, it aims to equip them with the ability to avoid irreversible mistakes and make informed life choices.
- To be able to articulate one’s own perspective on how society may evolve and transition in the future based on an overview
of current social conditions.
- To be able to formulate a plan and provide a reasoned explanation of one’s interests and how they intend to design their future
life.
- To be able to appropriately articulate the meaning of labor in society.
- To be able to reflect on one’s own expertise and utilize it in future planning.

Evaluation method and criteria
As a general rule, evaluation will be conducted based on the methods and weightings specified in the “Achievement Goals and
Corresponding Percentages” section. Points will be assigned for all evaluation criteria through appropriate means.
For assignments, evaluation will be based on submitted work, while for discussions and group work, factors such as the frequency
of contributions and level of engagement will be considered.
The total score will be calculated under the assumption that a perfect performance across all criteria would amount to 100
points. Credits will be granted to those who achieve more than 60% of this total.
Grades such as S, A, and B will be determined based on the percentage of points earned relative to this assumed perfect score.
