Purpose of class
My main purpose in this class is for students to develop an appreciation for and understanding of cultural difference, and to gain a relativistic view and regard our own culture as only one system among many ones.
Course description
This course introduces the discipline of cultural anthropology.
We are apt to understand different culture through sense of cultural value we have developed in our own society. In this lecture, to be begin with, we recognize our innermost “ethnocentrism” and in turn discover cultural diversity, by surveying the significant areas of human society and culture anthropologists have studied.
