Understand and develop techniques for assessing the environmental impact and sustainability of production and consumption
Member of society, especially engineers, are expected to comprehensively evaluate the environmental effects of human activities
such as production (products / services) and consumption (lifestyle), and recognize them for improvement. The concept of ”sustainable
consumption and production” is gaining attention worldwide.
In this lecture, various methods such as material flow analysis, life cycle assessment, ecological footprint, and Eco-efficiency
will be discussed as methods for evaluating the environmental impact and sustainability of production and consumption, and
their theoretical background and actual application Learn examples.
- Understand various environmental assessment methods
- Can be easy LCA calculation
- Be able to think of concrete measures for realizing sustainable production and consumption

[Prerequisites]
1) Students must have completed Human Society and Environmental Issues and possess a general understanding of specific environmental
problems (such as climate change).
2) Students must be able to use Microsoft Excel at home (Excel will be used for reports).
3) Because exponential calculations will be required, students must prepare a calculator capable of performing exponential
functions (to be used in in-class exercises).
4) Detailed explanations of the course content and grading policy will be provided in the first class, so attendance is mandatory.
5) Students should be aware of their monthly electricity, gas, and water consumption.
[Class Implementation Method]
1) Classes will be conducted via on-demand video (Microsoft Teams).
2) However, the final examination will be administered at the designated day and period.
3) Since quizzes will be conducted using Examena, students should check the Academic Information Center website and install
it in advance.
Office hours and How to contact professors for questions
