Purpose of class

　To understand the characteristics and philosophy of the Advanced Mechanical Engineering Course, and to understand the content of the lectures given by each faculty member and the content to be studied as a specialized subject during the four years through an introduction to each research field.

Course description

　This is an introductory course to the Advanced Mechanical Engineering Course for new students. It explains the characteristics and philosophy of the course, the content of the lectures given by each faculty member and an introduction to each research field in an easy-to-understand manner. It also includes guidance content for first-year students and general advice on how to prepare for various matters.
　It also includes explanations of literacy-related skills necessary for university study, education on information ethics necessary for engineers, and an awareness of one’s future image as an engineer, to motivate students to study in the future.

Goals and objectives

An introduction to the Advanced Mechanical Engineering course, explaining the attitudes and skills necessary for university study and motivating students to be aware of their own future prospects.
To expose students to the research activities developed in the Advanced Mechanical Engineering course and to interest them in future graduation research.
Fostering an interest in manufacturing and a sense of ethics in the information society, and making the students think about the role of mechanical engineering in society and develop an awareness of their future careers.

Evaluation method and criteria

For each assignment, a quiz using the engineering terminology presented in the lecture or an assignment report must be submitted to score 60 points. The average score for all assignments is 60 points or more.
