Purpose of class
材料工学に関する基礎的な実験方法、関連する機器の動作原理や計算手法を習得し、レポートの書き方を習得する
To acquire fundamental experimental techniques in materials engineering, understand the operating principles of related analytical instruments and calculation methods, and master the proficiency of scientific report writing.
Course description
班にわかれ教員ごとに個別の実験課題を行う。結果をレポートにまとめて提出する。
Students will be divided into groups to conduct individual experimental projects assigned by each faculty member. Following the experiments, students are required to summarize their results and submit them as a report.
Goals and objectives
  1. To acquire fundamental experimental techniques in materials engineering.(材料工学における基本的な実験手法を習得する)
  2. Understand the operating principles of analytical instruments and associated calculation methods.(関連する計算手法や計測機器の動作を理解する)
  3. To logically analyze and discuss experimental results, and to master the skills of technical report writing.(実験結果を論理的に考察し、レポートの書き方を習得する)

Evaluation method and criteria
To earn credits for this course, students must attend all laboratory sessions and report-review sessions, summarize experimental results and discussions, and submit reports including related assignments.
The final grade is a comprehensive evaluation based on the Experimental Summary/Report (60%) and Individual Assignments within each report (40%).
Grading Scale (100-point scale / Passing grade: 60)
• 90 points or above: (Excellent) The student can logically and appropriately summarize the experimental content based on background theories, including their own insights. There are absolutely no deficiencies in descriptions or citations of figures and tables. The student demonstrates the ability to answer experimental assignments accurately using technical terminology.
• 80 points or above: (Good) The student can appropriately summarize the experimental content based on objective facts, including their own insights. There are almost no deficiencies (only minor clerical errors), and the student demonstrates the ability to appropriately answer the experimental assignments by understanding the intent of the questions.
• 60 points or above: (Fair / Passing) The experimental content is generally summarized with few structural deficiencies. The student demonstrates the ability to provide adequate answers (describing at least the minimum required information) to the experimental assignments based on textbooks and provided materials.
