Purpose of class
The aim of this course is to develop students’ English skills for study and their future careers in Information and Communication Engineering.
Course description
The aim of this course is to develop students’ English skills for study and their future careers in Information and Communication Engineering. By learning contents and topics related to recent technologies and trends in Information and Communication Engineering, students will learn English vocabulary and expressions used in the field without relying on translation into Japanese. They also will enhance their ability to comprehend and express content in Information and Communication Engineering. They will read short international conference papers or short articles and watch videos about technologies and trends in the field to improve their ability to listen and read. They will also enhance their ability to express one’s view clearly and logically in English through active learning activities. In addition, they will be expected to acquire logical-thinking skills through conversations and presentations to be able to work successfully in the global engineering environment. They will be assigned listening and reading assignments as homework. The completion of Engineering English 1 and/or 2 course is preferred.
Goals and objectives
  1. To be able to read, listen and understand accurately and smoothly contents in Information and Communication Engineering in English.
  2. To be able to understand and employ a range of frequent-used English vocabulary, expressions and grammar in Information and Communication Engineering.
  3. To be able to discuss and write about the contents in Information and Communication Engineering that have been listened and read.
