Purpose of class
The purpose of this course is to provide student with comprehensive knowledge of a parametric design software, SolidWorks and a numerical type of engineering problem solving software, ANSYS Workbench. In this course student has an opportunity to correlate the actual engineering problems through designing, modelling, simulating and analyzing it using the two software.
Course description
This course focuses on the design, modelling and analysis using a design software, Solidworks and numerical type of engineering problem software, ANSYS Workbench. Topics include sketches, 3D solid modelling, assembly, part modelling, meshing, and finite element analysis.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students can explain the underlaying concept of 3D modelling
  2. Students can assemble multiple parts using the software
  3. Students can analyze and solve complex mechanical problems
