Purpose of class
The purposes of this course are to decide the research topics for the graduation thesis, and to acquire how to do research such as clarifying the objectives, designing the research plans, proposing solutions, verifying the hypotheses, and evaluating the proposal.
Course description
Students will decide the research topics for the graduation thesis research under the guidance of the supervisor. Then, students will clarify the objectives of the research, design the research plans and the necessary techniques, and perform the graduation thesis based on the proposed plan. The experimental techniques including the knowhow to use research equipment or analytical tools should be trained with the help of the supervisor, teaching assistants, and technicians in the laboratory. In performing the experiments, the safety instruction must be strictly followed. The treatment of dangerous and hazardous materials should be handled according to the university regulations. The research results must be reported regularly to the supervisor and the laboratory members. It should be flexible to redesign the research plan depending on the research results. During the research, students will prepare and write laboratory notes to be used for the regular discussions with the supervisor.
Goals and objectives
  1. Students can adhere to engineering ethics and safely handle dangerous and hazardous materials following university regulations.
  2. Students can decide the research topics considering the impact on the society and perform the research by using research equipment and analytical tools.
  3. Students can develop thinking skills and present their research progress at the end of semester presentation.
