In this course, we aim to deepen our understanding on the possibility of coexistence for people different in any aspects to
each other to overcome the difference, collision and conflict. We put focus on the fact that many companies / enterprises
in the world put high value on the “diversity” of human resources as the key to the growth, irrespective of the region, industry
or business scale, and also seek for human resources who can display their ability in the diversified world. In this course,
students will learn about the essential concept and knowledge for themselves to work as the human resources who can display
such ability.
The class is consisted of the following three themes: (1) Understanding the diversity – its meaning and possibility / difficulty
such as collisions and conflicts, and how to overcome the same; (2) Various aspects of the diversity – races, ethnic groups,
cultures, religions, sex and gender, generations, diseases and disabilities, etc.; (3) Practicing promotion and utilization
of the diversity / practicing the solution of problems involving the diversity.
Learning becomes meaningful and something new will be born where people of different situation, different concepts of values
and different ways of thinking intercommunicate. The purpose of this class is to respect the difference and cultivate the
tolerance and flexible creativity to create excellent and new products / concepts through the cooperation between people with
different attributes, situations and ways of thinking in an organization composed of diverse human resources.
- Recognize and explain the importance and possibility of an environment where the diversity can be tolerated and secured.
- Recognize and express the degree of tolerance of yourself against the “otherness”.
- Understand the concept and practice of the diversity management of the organizations including companies, and explain your
thought on such concept / practice correlating with your own future.
