Purpose of class
The objective of this course is to understand the goals, content, and methods of science education, and to deepen the understanding of science education in actual school settings while acquiring practical teaching skills through the creation of ICT-based teaching materials and visits/practical training at external educational institutions.
Course description
Building on the content of Teaching Method of Science I and II, this course aims to deepen students’ understanding of the academic disciplines underlying the content presented in the Course of Study for lower and upper secondary schools, and to strengthen their practical teaching competencies.
The course also aims to develop the teaching skills required for teaching practicum. Students will be provided with practical opportunities to design lesson plans and teaching plans based on specific classroom scenarios, conduct Microteaching sessions, and learn evaluation methods.
Through the use of ICT in developing instructional materials and reflecting on Microteaching practices, the course seeks to enhance both the specialized knowledge of science and the practical teaching skills required for teaching practicum.
Goals and objectives
  1. Analyze their own Microteaching sessions conducted in class and identify areas for improvement.
  2. Create video teaching materials for observations and experiments in junior and senior high school science fields using ICT.
  3. Explain the precautions required for the management of chemicals, teaching materials, and equipment, as well as laboratory management and safety assurance used in observations and experiments.
  4. Conduct demonstration experiments using the created video teaching materials for observations and experiments.
