This course aims to provide fundamental knowledge of medicine and healthcare. Students will develop an understanding of biological
phenomena, pathological changes in the human body, and the basic principles and mechanisms of medical devices used for treatment,
diagnosis, and functional replacement or assistance. Through this course, students will acquire the knowledge necessary for
the development of pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
This course comprehensively provides the medical knowledge required for science and engineering researchers and engineers
involved in pharmaceuticals and medical and welfare devices. It introduces the basic structure and functions of the human
body, the causes and pathophysiology of diseases, the mechanisms and applications of representative medical devices, and an
overview of the Japanese healthcare system.
- To be able to explain the basic structure of the Japanese healthcare system and the role of medical technologies.
- To be able to explain pathological changes in the body and changes in biological functions associated with major diseases.
- To be able to explain the principles and roles of representative medical devices used for diagnosis, treatment, and functional
replacement or assistance.
- To be able to understand the major fields of clinical medicine and explain their relationships with medical devices and medical
technologies.
