Purpose of class
The objective of this lecture is to understand the process of capturing physical phenomena and converting them into meaningful digital information within IoT systems, as well as to acquire fundamental knowledge regarding serial communication.
Course description
The Internet of Things (IoT) requires hardware capable of converting electrical signals (analog signals) output by sensors into digital signals that can be stored and analyzed. Additionally, various serial communication standards are employed for communication between boards. This course aims to provide students with fundamental knowledge regarding sensor analog front-ends (AFEs)—which are necessary to convert analog signals to digital signals—as well as analog-to-digital conversion and serial communication.
Goals and objectives
  1. Understand the role of the front-end and explain its basic structure.
  2. Able to explain the roles and principles of the various elements that make up the front end.
  3. Able to explain the types of interfaces and provide examples of them.
  4. Able to explain the mechanism of serial communication.
  5. Able to implement simple serial communication.
