Purpose of class
The objective is to develop, through practical exercises conducted with international participants, the ability to communicate information and opinions containing specialized content—which is essential for success as an international engineer or scientist—as well as the ability to understand such information and opinions shared by others and to collaborate and coordinate effectively within a group.
Course description
Students may fulfill the requirements for this practicum by participating in one of the gPBL courses offered by this department. The objective of this practicum is to help students acquire—through practical exercises conducted alongside international participants—the ability to communicate information and opinions containing specialized content to others, as well as the ability to understand information and opinions containing specialized content presented by others and to cooperate and collaborate within a group—skills required to succeed as international engineers and scientists. As a general rule, the internship period ranges from 8 working days to 2 months and is conducted either overseas or domestically. The course curriculum is based on the specifications provided by the host company or academic institution. Students must attend a briefing on the internship details in advance before participating. Additionally, students must submit a report after the internship detailing what they learned and experienced. Furthermore, they must give a presentation at a debriefing session.

Evaluation method and criteria
Students will be evaluated based on their attitude toward the practicum (Teamwork, Active Communication, Effort)—worth a maximum of 30 points; their performance in the presentation session and measurement experiments—worth a maximum of 30 points; and the final report submitted after returning home—worth a maximum of 40 points. The total score for these items must be 60 points or higher to pass.
