Purpose of class
To be able to deal with matrices and determinants.
Course description
This is a continuation of Linear Algebra 1. We learn matrices and determinants. We learn the definition of determinant and the formula for inverse matrices. We learn inner products, orthonormal bases, eigenvalues, eigenvectors and diagnalization.
Goals and objectives
  1. To be able to compute determinants
  2. To understand relation between determinant and invertibility
  3. To be able to diagonalize matrices
  4. To be able to diagonalize real symmetric matrices by orthogonal matrix

Evaluation method and criteria
Mid-term exam (40%) and final exam (60%).
If quizzes or reports are assigned, these will be taken into account.
Specifically, let A be the score of the midterm exam on a 40-point scale, let B be the score of the final exam on a 60-point scale and let C be the score of a quiz or a report on a 20-point scale.
Then min{A+B+C,100} is the final grade.
If the final grade is greater than or equal to 60, you will have a passing grade.
